Bridging for Seniors is a team of registered social workers with expertise in geriatric mental health. We specialize in counselling, crisis prevention, care coordination and senior health education.
We created Bridging for Seniors because we felt there was a need in the private sector for in- home, therapeutic support for seniors and their families. We have worked with seniors who recognize that they could use more help in their home or that are ready to move to retirement but don't know where to begin. We can walk them through this process every step of the way.
We have also worked for many years with clients in crisis and believe that there needed to be a service to help seniors before crisis occurs. Often times families are overwhelmed and worried but lack the time or skill set to transition their loved ones to retirement or keep them safely in their homes. We have the mediation skills and counselling experience to create a plan that everyone is comfortable with.
We believe that change can be positive, hopeful, and healthy. We will walk with you over the bridge to your next chapter.
Cathy Traynor is a dedicated registered social worker who has worked with individuals and families for 20 years in the community and nonprofit sector. It has been within the last ten years, when she began working exclusively with seniors, where she found her true passion.
Cathy has worked with seniors in a counselling and care coordination role supporting their health and transition goals. She understands the delicate balance between safety and independence and believes that a collaborative approach is best whenever possible.
She employs a direct and practical approach to working with her clients and connects with each individual using empathy, compassion and humour. Her work is facilitated through her relationships in the senior sector with hospitals, community mental health, and LTC and retirement communities.
Cathy loves animals, movies, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
